Business Central 26 On-premises – Date format not updating despite regional settings change

Hi everyone,

I’ve encountered a strange issue with a new Business Central 26 On-premises installation for a client, and I hope someone might have a solution.

The environment:

  • Business Central 26 On-premises

  • Windows Server 2025

  • Region: Poland

Initially, the short date format on the Windows Server was set to d.MM.yyyy. Later, the client requested to change it to dd.MM.yyyy. I applied the change under the user account that runs the Business Central server instance and confirmed that the format was updated correctly in the Windows regional settings.

However, the change is not reflected in the Business Central application. The dates are still shown in the original d.MM.yyyy format. I have already:

  • Restarted the Business Central service

  • Restarted the whole server

…but the date format remains unchanged in the application.

Additionally, in the Business Central client, all users have their Region set to Poland in My Settings.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or knows how to force Business Central to recognize the updated system date format?

I have the same question (0)

As far as I know this cannot be changed except by customization. But this has too many date fields, so it is not recommended.

You can try your luck in the server settings.

    Thanks for the reply!

I’ve tried several combinations of Business Central Server settings, but unfortunately nothing has helped so far — the date format in the application still doesn't reflect the system setting.

    Just to add some context:

I’m currently working on upgrading that environment from BC 21 to BC 26. The same client also has another Business Central environment — version 21 on-premises — running on a different server with Windows Server 2022. In that case, the short date format on the system is set to dd.MM.yyyy, and Business Central correctly displays dates in that format within the application.

So it seems like the issue might be specific to Business Central 26 or possibly related to Windows Server 2025.

Business Central doesn't fully rely on Windows date format settings. Even if you change the server's regional format, the date format in BC is controlled by the user's Region and Language in My Settings.

    To fix it:

Go to My Settings in BC.

Set Region to Poland and Language to Polish (pl-PL).

If it still doesn’t reflect, try switching to another region temporarily and switch back — this refreshes the format.

For all users, you can set "WebClientLocale": "pl-PL" in the navsettings.json file.
