Re Outlook plug in install

HI,

I need to know if the install package needs to include CRM server configuration information.

What would be the difference from user’s perspective? Is it only skipping the step that user pastes the URL and continues with the configuration?

Not all of our users will be installing the outlook plug in. Would having the configuration included in the install, use the resource from outlook and cause performance issues? (for the users that do not want outlook plug in)

Hi, the install package doesn't have to include the CRM server configuration. In large company-wide deployments, you would want to include this CRM server configuration so that all users will be setup correctly and automatically (as opposed to giving them instructions on how to setup and potentially run into problems).

So yes, the difference from the user's perspective is that it is only skipping the initial configuration step. Missing the configuration file, the user can still copy paste URL and continue with the configuration.

For the users not using the outlook plugin (or what we call it CRM Client for Outlook), then I would suggest not installing the plugin at all. Having it installed, whether configured or not, will make Outlook load slightly longer as it needs to load the plugin.

    Hope that answers your question.
