Has anyone ever even looked at this? Is Canadian Payroll the child that has been totally and utterly forgotten?
We did a conversion from GP2010 to GP2013 for the express purpose of moving this client to Human Resources, but it looks like this might be a huge waste of time.
Can anyone tell me (prefer from Microsoft) that HR will / could / might / may EVER work with Canadian Payroll, or should I tell the client that they are right to consider dumping the payroll system that they currently hate due to all the bugs and lack of features and poor reports and - well I got a blasting from the new director of HR and let me tell you, she could care less that they have been on GP since 1994 - she could care less that the software would not cost her anything, she simply puts it - I want a solution taht works, and this is not even close.
The first major issue we encountered is that the data in Canadian Payroll is not totally moving over to the US Payroll tables. The fact that I have to move to the US payroll tables to use the HR system is wrong, but, hey computers are just simply not capable of knowing US verses Canada, so we forgive them. Seriously, when we look at the 'non-active HR' selection in the Registration - the Canadian Rate History table for most all employees contains the expected data. However, as soon as we turn on the HR (registration check box) we get the Canadian Rate History table taken over in HR and Canadian Payroll by the US Payroll Earnings History Table and this table is BLANK therefore of no use to anyone.
I have (a test system) deleted the content of the UPR tables and re-populated them from the Canadian payroll utility to IMPORT/Export Fill US tables - still no difference.
This is a show stopper for the client - the HR Manager and the Payroll clerk, who has been a strong user for the past 5 years is not satisfied and will not support the move to GP2013 and HR if we (1) lose the Rate History in Canadian Payroll and (2) don't get the reporting as promised in the HR side once we do get the Canadian data to the system.
Her parting shot this morning was "we will drop this *** in 2 minutes and go to ADP or anything else that will provide me with the information and system I want and need. I don't care how much history you have with us, it is a piece of junk and does not even come close to what we need or want'
With that I was dismissed - I have been with this client for almost 20 years and I am afraid for the survival of GP in this company if this can not be solved. If it can not be solved, they will move - PERIOD. Microsoft take note, Canadian companies do not think you care about the Payroll solution you are selling and are not going to take it.
