Tab with subgrid adds extra sections that shrink the subgrid

I have a tab that consists solely of a subgrid to a custom entity. Periodically users start to notice that the subgrid no longer expands to more than a couple of rows and when I check the form customization, I discover that extra sections have been added below the subgrid and are preventing the subgrid from expanding. No one is adding these sections manually, so it seems that the system is doing this.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? If so, is there a solution to prevent this from happening?

I am having the same issue.  It's EXTREMELY frustrating.

I applied rollup 17 this morning.  This was supposed to be resolved as part of the rollup, but I'm still having the problem.

Did you ever find a solution?  This is driving me crazy!

    Hi Flapaul & Laurence,

Sorry to hear that the issue is causing you so much trouble.

However, I wanted to understand a couple of things here.

-Can you please provide me the build number of your CRM environment?

-Are you seeing the issue only when the "Automatically expand to use available space" property is set on the sub grid?

We recently were informed about the issue with the above property. The fix for it would be provided in the next update roll up. However, if you need an immediate fix, please contact Microsoft Support.

A workaround for the issue would be to deselect the property on the sub grid.

    (CRM>Settings>Customize the system> Entity_Name> Form > Subgrid > Change Properties>Formatting>Row Layout)

If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Have fun playing around.

    Regards,

    Vivek

It is known issue with subgrid on the form. Whenever you add\remove a field, it will resize sub grid to 2 rows

    Hi Vivek,

Thanks for your response.  Here are the answers to your questions...

The CRM server is version: 5.0.9690.4150
The SQL server is version: 5.0.9690.3448

I believe the issue only occurs when "Automatically expand to use available space" property is set on the sub grid.  I've been trying to monitor at what point the grids change back to 2 rows.  I believe it isn't only when fields are added/moved on the form.

It was my understanding that a fix for this issue was included in rollup 17.  The 'Issues that will be resolved...' section of the Rollup page (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915687/en-us) indicates:

    • Removing / Adding any field to the form after enabling the option "Automatically expand to use available space" causes the sub grid to shrink or resize to much smaller in size.

It would be really great if I could get the fix for this before the next rollup is released, since most of our forms have several subgrids.  Am I able to get this free of charge?  Who do I contact to get this?  (I'm asking because I've spent HOURS on the phone in the past when trying to get support for CRM.  I'll get one person on the line who directs me to another phone number, and when I call that phone number they direct me back to the first phone number - back and forth).

    Thanks for your help Vivek!

    Hi Laurence,

    Thanks for the information.

Yes, you are correct. This issue was addressed in the update roll up 17. As a part of the fix we have changed the logic used to remove the unnecessary space but unfortunately, this didn't completely resolve the issue.

However, after further investigating the issue, we have found the cause. The component used for calculating the height in the form editor was pulling the values from a different place.

As you want to get the fix before the update roll up, I will recommend you to open a new support case. After confirming the behavior with the engineer, you can request for the hot fix. If you need my help on it, please do provide me the new case number.

You can get more details about the support case and open one using the following link:

    support.microsoft.com/.../en-au

Hope you have the answers to your questions :)

    That's great news!

I don't have to pay for this, right?

So what option do I choose for opening a case?  I don't want to put in my credit card.

Is there a phone number I can use to call in instead of an online form?

    Hi Laurence,

Please refer the above hyperlink for more details about the support policy.

It answers your questions about the support policy in regard to scenarios such as this. It also provides a phone number to open a new case.

For more telephone numbers from other countries, please refer

    Thanks for the info.

Do you know (roughly) when the next RU will be released?  If it's within the next few months, I'll wait.  Dealing with support is tedious.
