IV Renconcile GP 10

Does anyone know of a utility that will allow the mass selection of items to change their type to discontinued. Before I go and write something my users are screaming for something where they can tag a bunch of items and discontinue them. Doing them one by one is too slow. This is for GP 10.

Richard, I'm not sure if this is your answer, but check out Corporate Renaissance Group's Changer IV.  it may have what you're looking for. www.crgroup.com/changer.php

    Good afternoon, Richard.

I don't know of any utility, but how are your T-SQL skills?  It is pretty easy to write T-SQL code against the eConnect stored procedures to make this happen.  Stored procedure name is "taUpdateCreateItemRcd".  Just a thought.

If you've never done that before, but if you have high confidence with T-SQL, let me know and I can send you a sample.

    Good luck!

Ron, your answers are always right on target. I was thinking of creating a VS 2008 C# application and embedding a stored procedure. Do I need to install eConnect to get the stored procedure "taUpdateCreateItemRcd" created? What the users are asking for is a screen where they see all of their items that have been selected via some criteria. I was going to present the data in a datagridview. In the grid will be a check box. If they click the check box and then click Save, all items that were checked will be marked as discontinued.  We have conversed before on other threads and T-SQL is not a problem. If you have a sample please forward it along.

Frank, changing the item number is not the question. They want to mark a set of items as discontinued. I also noticed I used the wrong title on this question. This is what happens when you get distracted. The title should have been "Mass IV Item Discontinue"

Richard, I understood that you want to mass change IV items to discontinued.  The reason I suggested looking into the IV Changer is because I've used other CRG products in the past and some of them do more than their  nomenclature would suggest.  Might be worth a call to CRG to find out if any of their products would help.

Frank, I chat with them on a regular basis on several projects. I will ask if they have anything that can do a mass change of Item Status. I have used many of their products for over a decade now.
