Hi All

I want to reduce the size of a multiline text field . I could not find the height only Width is available. Rowspan did not work. The use case is to cpy past text with line breaks. Only work with multiline (or blob) but doesnt want to increase the height if empty

You can achieve this by using a JavaScript Control Add-in.

Standard multiline text fields (or BLOBs) do not offer height control directly in AL, and rowspan won't work in this context. If your use case involves copying and pasting text with line breaks, and you want to avoid increasing the height when the field is empty, a control add-in gives you more flexibility. It allows you to define the height dynamically with JavaScript and apply additional styling or logic based on the content.

As far as I know, it cannot be done except with a third party add-in.

Standard doesn't allow you to set up the height of multiline.

You can try using add-in, but it will take more effort to do it.

My only issue with control add-in is not sure about security and maintainability - if we have full app base don control addin worth otherwise might be overkill

There will indeed be security issues, so I personally think you can submit this suggestion to Microsoft and ask Microsoft to add a property similar to the Width Property.

In AL, multiline text fields don’t support direct height control like RowSpan. To manage layout, place the field in a group and use MinHeight or use a control add-in for better control over text display and formatting. ✅
