Setting up the Headquarters Client and Headquarters Server

I am having some trouble setting up the Headquarters Client and Headquarters Server. I have done everything right i believe. Both computers are set up with static IP and on the Client i can connect to the SO database. Now the problem is i have used the external IP for the Client to connect to the Headquarters Main server but it keeps timing out on connecting to the SOCKET. am i missing a step here? how do i configure the computer or router to point directly to the Headquarters Server so my stores can start connecting? Thanks

    Hello Bryan,

    Thank you for your questions.

Please examine the documents found here for information on how to set up headquarters:

Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System 2.0 Headquarters: Course Number 8834

    https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/training/trainingmaterials/student/course8834.htm?printpage=false&sid=3qdnycj3fkgpw1xxy2wgaspr&stext=8834

What is the exact error message that you recieve?

Are the HQ Client / Server ports open on your firewalls? Has port forwarding been configured on your router? Are you able to scan the ports?

You can use this 3rd party website to scan the HQ ports (TCP 34200) on your network:

    Online Port Scan

    http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scan/

This 3rd party website contains information on how to set up port forwarding:

    Port Forward

    http://portforward.com/

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Did you open the port and forward it (hq server side) to the server (I think it's 34200) in the router?

I am assuming the client and hq are in different locations.
