default dimension value codes-Nick

Posted on by 65

In NAV we assigned a default dimension value code global dimension 2 for each of our global dimension 1.

It was useful because whenever someone used a global dimension code 1 the global dimension code 2 code was populated automatically. However, it also gave the option to be changed. We are now on Business Central and cant find the same functionality. We have used linked dimensions but this is too restrictive as it does not allow to break the relationships between GD1 and GD2 which we sometimes do , ie we change the GB2 from the default one. Can somone assist with helping me find this set up in BC

Unfortunately Linked Dimensions is not a standard feature as far as I know.

    Hi,

as ZHU mentioned - in NAV you have a customization.

If You started to use new BC then You have to ask Your partner to create this customization as an extension and add to BC.

If Your BC was upgraded from NAV, then partner forgot this customization or it was decided not needed.

Your mentioned Linked dimensions - also seems like a customization in BC, or You meant default dimensions ?

Hi, according to your description, this feature does not seem to be a standard feature of NAV. As far as I know, there is no such tree management feature in NAV and BC.

Has your NAV environment been customized by partners? Is the same functionality available in the standard database?

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
