Are the reports that are created from the Reports Interface in MSCRM Dynamics 4.0 permission-based. i.e. Would the records that the user does not have permissions  for be excluded from the reports created through the CRM Interface?

Also, How do permissions on reports that are created  outside the interface and then imported into CRM work?

     Hi Geri,

    Reports created in Crm (Report Wizard) use the Filtered Views from SQL which means records are filtered based on the executing users permissions.  For a custom report written outside of Crm, as long as the Filtered Views are used in the SQL, permissions will be enforced.  If the custom report does not use the filtered views, the user will have access to all records.

    Scott,

    Thanks for your prompt response. Can you create a report outside of CRM and not use the filtered views and then import that report to CRM? If so... Is that when the user will see all records or is it through SQL Reporting Services interface that user will see all records.

    Yes, you can not use the filtered views and import the report into Crm.  The user should be able to see all of the records.
