Unmerging Contacts/Recovering Information

I know that we cannot unmerge contacts, but can just reactivate the subordinate contact. However, I have a situation that you may be able to help me with.

Lately my office has been merging our duplicate contacts to make work easier and more precise. One of my co-workers was doing so and accidentally clicked the wrong ID number. The ID number of the subordinate contact then ended up on the master. I have the ID, but I cannot find a way to put it into the correct contact because merging the two deleted what was originally on the master account.

I would just go in and put the ID in the contact, but that feature is locked into the ID. What could I do to correct this? Is there a way to unlock this feature on his account?

Thank you!

    Hi Swan

So are you saying even after reactivating the Deactive merged record you still unable to update the field?

    Best Wishes, Raz
