Fixed Bin automatically ticked

Hey Guys

I'm trying to understand why BC tick fixed bin on bin contents screen and if there is a setting to not check this automatically. we are using basic warehousing and default bins,  (with pick and put away only - no directed) and on location card, use mandatory bin and fixed bin but there is no other option other than last used bin as a selection. I think the fixed bin is a misunderstood concept among the community as many had the same question without a proper answer.

thanks

I have the same question (0)

Fixed bin makes sure that the system will always suggest that you use the fixed bin for your items in inventory. So even if your stock goes to zero the fixed bin will be remembered by the system because you will have a bin content line marked at fixed bin but with inventory zero.

If you chose last used then the system will suggest the last bin you had a transaction on for this specific item so if you have your inventory spread on bin 1, 2,3 the "use last" will pick the last bin used. But if you had one of the bin content lines marked at fixed bin the system will always suggest the fixed bin.

Not sure if this made it much clearer but feel free to follow up with more detailed questions if you have and i can probably put together en example with come screenshots.

How do we change a fixed bin for a particular item?

When checking the TICK box, I get the below error.

    Validation Results

Zone Code must be equal to '' in Bin Content: Location Code=BRAINTREE, Bin Code=SS-10-2, Item No.=ST63CJ3-BC, Variant Code=, Unit of Measure Code=PCS. Current value is 'ZONE 2'.

And it doesn't let me change anything in the ZOne Code.

Please read about changing the default bin in this doc:

Thank you for your reply. That is exactly what I did and comes with the error as mentioned above. Not sure why and how to get rid of that error.

Do you still have inventory in your the item?  If so you might have to empty the bin for that item first?

Maybe move the inventory to the new bin where you plan to store the items.

Thank you for your prompt reply. What I am trying to do is as below.

    1. More 1 SKU from 4 different bins to 1 bin. and then make the new bin as fixed and default. Inventory in the other 3 bins has already been moved to 1 bin and the other bins are all empty.

As a result, 1 SKU , 4 bins have been moved to 1 SKU 1 bin and now I want to make the new bin as default and fixed bin.

System is not letting me do it.

Not sure how to solve this.

If you are 120% sure that there is nothing left in your bin you should be able to go to the bin content page, set a filter on the entries there for the old bin and the item no. in question and delete the bin content entries that match the filter.

    That should solve your problem.
