How to create a Dev enviroment from sandbox

Hello Everyone,

I just would like to know your feedbacks on the following.

We have CRM 2016 production and Sandbox instances. All are Hyper V Virtual Machines.

I've been given the task of creating a dev environment from production or sandbox. My plan is to clone the VMs and change the IPs and other connectivity details. Will this work or am i missing something.

I get that this usually involves the Vendors who implemented the system but this is a different case.

    Hi,

You can copy the VM and do those changes, but you will need to take into consideration if also the developments in Dynamics CRM 2016 have endpoints pointing to other applications, etc.

It is a good option to copy from the Sandbox, but you will have the same organization, with same name, etc in the Dev and Sandbox.

It would be better to create a new org on Dev and then have all the customizations (solutions) imported on Dev org.
