Product Catalog/Opportunity Product Difficulties

Hi All -

I work for a very unique software company and our pricing structure is not like a traditional pricing structure (e.g. Product/List/Disc/Net) etc.  We want to utilize the Opportunity Product section however, there is no set List Price for any given product, this is based on customer relationship/needs and can be different on a deal to deal basis.  In addition, we want to add multiple products to an opportunity (e.g. subscription & professional services).

With all that being said, when I try and utilize the Product Catalog/Opportunity Products piece in CRM I'm not able to override the 'locks' on the Opportunity Product Line Items.  I want to be able to add a Product and  populate free form the Extended Amount or the Price Per Unit.

Anybody know a way to accomplish this? It seems that the CRM is locked down tight when it comes to the Product Catalog/Opportunity Products piece.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Security Roles contain privileges on the Sales tab to allow users to override pricing or not. Check that you have a role granting those permissions.

Get the team to agree on volume discounts by product and percentages.

Product A - 1-10 base price, 11-25 10% off etc.  Start by setting up the discounts, then the units ( each, case).  Next create pricelists by currency (USD, EURO, CAD).  Finally add each product and associate each product with a price list.  Do not add the price or the currency to the product.  These go in the price list items.  Good Luck.
