Complete installation guide

After several days of frustration I am looking to the community in a sort of last resort. I have been digging through loads of information, but I couldn't come up with a concise guide to install on-premisis Dynamics 2013 including IFD. Oh, there's plenty out there on how to install Dynamics (yes, I can get it to run locally), AD FS configuration, and IFD, but nothing that ties everything together, no step-by-step instructions. What do I need (SSL certificates, etc), how to set up DNS (and most of all why, I simply do not understand the purpose of configuring a gazillion A and CNAME records for one single server), how to configure AD FS with the certificate I have, and how to bring it all together so I end up with a deployment I can access from the internet. Does this guide exist? Or are people willing to help author it?

The guide on this site is pretty good: http://www.interactivewebs.com/blog/index.php/server-tips/microsoft-crm-2011-how-to-configure-ifd-hosted-setup/

You can also check out CRM MVP Chris Cognetta's blog and look for posts tagged "ADFS" - this is one of his areas of extpertise:  http://cognettacloud.com/

Excellent, this guide got us through the installation process. Mind you, it was complicated enough WITH the guide and we still don't have our deployment working as intended (supporting mobile clients and the Windows 8 app), but at least we are now further into the process and have gained more understanding. Thanks a lot.

We are updating the IFD guidance for CRM 2013. However, apart from the mobile clients, not much has changed for the steps involved for using AD FS with CRM 2013, so you can follow the information in the Claims-based authentication documentation at technet.microsoft.com/.../gg188579.aspx.

With the new mobile clients there is an additional step necessary to run a CRM Server repair where the Web app is installed (after installation). This applies only to new deployments (new install/new configuration database). This is in the CRM 2013 IG available for download at www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx (the online version should be available in a week or two).
