Adding link to record in an email from a workflow

Hi all

Is there a way to include a link to the record when creating an email via a Workflow? I have an email sent out when a new lead or Opportunity is created, and I want to have a link to the record in the email itself to motivate staff to view it.

Any suggestions?

    Hi Olly,

You can fill in the regarding with lead/opportunity in the workflow.

This will allow you to trace the email to lead/opportunity.

You can also create a custom field and create it any other entity if you need.

    Thanks,

    Prateek

The Regarding field is set correctly, but no link is showing the email that is sent out.

Once the regarding is set, should I insert a dynamic field in the email to add that to the email body?

    Hi Olly,

Is the email being sent to external user or is it send to internal user who have outlook with dynamics?

If it is external user then receiver wont see the regarding - you need to change description and add a url there.

If it is internal user, then regarding object will be available in CRM and even in outlook for dynamics.

    Thanks,

    Prateek

Thanks. Yes it's to an external recipient and the question is, how can I add the URL?

There's no URL field in the list, and the actual URL in dynamics seems far too complex to recreate by hand using dynamic values.

    Hi Olly,

The url on top has extra detail but to construct a url for record is pretty simple, you just need entity name and entity GUID : docs.microsoft.com/.../open-forms-views-dialogs-reports-url

Just use the GUID of lead here : myorg.crm.dynamics.com/main.aspx

However, does the external user also has a license? If the dont then how are they suppose to login to CRM?

If you want external user to get access to CRM data - you need to setup a portal.
