How to force RMS to beep when scanned item cannot be found?

Hi folks,

We use RMS v2 SP3 (planning to upgrade to CU5 soon) with flat-scanner (counter-scanner) DataLogic HS 2300 to scan products.

We noticed RMS does not beep or emit a sound to complain when a scanned item is not found.

Is it possible to accomplish so in RMS or using a flat-scanner hardware?

Please advise.

    In SO Manager, goto File, Configuration, Options, Item Options and check "Display unknown item screen". Then when an unknown item is scanned it will beep and display the message below.

    Hi Ben,

    I have this option checked already and Windows does not emit any sound when displayed, any ideas why not?

    Also, instead of having Windows emitting the sound, is it possible to have the flat-scanner emit a different sound when an scanned item is not found in RMS?

    Maybe the Windows sounds have been disabled? Look in the Windows Control Panel and see if there's a sound set up for the Default Beep.

    I doubt there's any easy way to have RMS make the scanner emit a different sound. (if it's even possible)
