How to scrap obsolete inventory

We are pretty new to BC and have some old inventory we cannot sell as it is obsolete. I could do a negative Item Journal which would remove the quantity and cost of the item, but normally we would direct items we are scrapping into a specific GL account.

How do I scrap out an obsolete item in BC365?

The negative adjustment will be posted to the "Inventory Adjumt. Account" which is stated in the general posting setup page based on the posting groups - it's an internal movement so blank for business and then whatever your product is.

In the case of an item journal you can override the "Gen. Product Posting Group" value - which is the default from the item card - so that the posting goes where you actually want it to. So for example you have have a specific "Gen. Product Posting Group" setup called SCRAP and it goes to a different inventory adjustment account compared to the other lines of your general posting setup.
