Inserting links and attachments in mail template

Hi all,

I need to insert a link and an attachment in a mail template and I can't figure how to do that. I have a very simpe editor that not provides the necessary tools to do this. Is it possible to load another editor (like the one that appears when writing this post) or any workaround.

Thanks in advance. Regards.

Ricard

Its possible but first thing is any images need to be hosted someplace (like a public website) where they can be accessed because they will not get embedded into the email body like an Outlook email message.

If you are OK with that you can create HTML content in an HTML editor, creating links and images whose source is the external site. Once completed you can open the HTML page in a browser and click in the page content, then use Ctrl-A to select the content and then copy and paste (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V) into the body of the email template.

This blog post walks through the process: http://elvenprogrammer.themanaworld.org/stunning-html-rich-emails-dynamics-crm-2011/

Attachments are a good addition if you are sending email attachments with special care. These attachment formats may carry a list of pitfalls you might deal with as soon as you decide to make your email brighter or more informative.

So, before you send an attachment in your email be extra careful with HTML formats, any .dmg files, .exe. Files and file extensions with .iso attachment. Also avoid sending files attachments with a .r09, .zip, .rar, .arc and other compressed file types. These files alter what’s actually in the package, and result in dangerous .exe files or other types of malware.

Your best bet is to keep abreast of the latest threats and variations and take as many precautions as you can to protect your email from dumping into spam or bin folders.
