What do you mean ECm product?

Which way do you import ECm product?

The error message stating that a record is not found usually points to an underlying and missing data element that you referenced in the entity used for that specific DMF load.

E.g. if you are trying to reference a category (that is not yet created in D365FO yet) to a product via product category assignment entity. Follow the logical sequence and load first underlying entities. (here: product categories)

    Hy Talent,

as I assume your are about ECM meaning Engineering Change Management. There are multiple depending entities, also one of product version. For using ECM there it is always also needed a regular product.

These ECM entities are available qt 10.0.18.

We are facing the same issue.

What the entity which you used for ECM Products import ?

In Andreas answer there are lot of entities mentioned.

    Dear all,

as the ECM Module is quite new, I also have no experience with imports of ECM products in the real world.

As the ECM contains processes to bring a product form status "cretaed" to released or from version x to version x+1, the question is, what do you want.

Do you want import new products to run through the ECM processes to become released products OR do you want to import released products and use ECM processes for future changes on the products?

To just have relaesed products it would be enough to import:

    - products V2

    - realeased products V2

Aftre that you can apply ECM processes if the module is configured.

As I "ECM released" one product in Test-environment and exported this one, just the entities

    - Engineering product versions

    - Released engineering product versions

where filled with data of these item.

If you want to Import this, you need to do some ECM setup before.

    Hi Andreas

Thanks for your answer. I am a colleague of Abhisheks who made the previous post.

Since he made that post we have learnt more:

    - we are migrating a customer from AX4 to D365FO, they really want to use ECM, and have 200,000+ items

    - and they want to use Version, and on inventory transactions as well, the 'whole hog'

    - and, with 200,000+ items we really need a way to import them into ECM

    - but, despite all sorts of tests so far, we keep hitting that original error - even if we try and import a new ECM Product Master, and with an already existing and valid Eng Change Category it always gives that error

    - we raised a support case to Microsoft and to their credit got a very quick, but less than optimum response

They are saying that it is a known issue, basically you can not import data into ECM Product Masters right now. It is being looked at to resolve but that may be some time away in the future.

We are trying all sorts of workarounds, but so far we keep hitting that same error/roadblock.

If anyone has succeeded in importing Product Masters, using Version, in to ECM we would love to hear how they did that :-)

    Regards

    Geoff McM

RE: which entity to use to import ECm product

Microsoft is coming out with a new entity to import Engineering change management products in release .21 called EngChgReleasedEngineeringProduct.   Was able to obtain a copy of the code and have installed and tested in one of our customer environments.   The issue we are having now is we cannot import the Engineering bill of materials/routings that are associated with the Engineering version.  Working with support on this issue currently.

    Hi Jconwell,

I hope you are well. I'd like to check if the Support team has sorted this out for you? If yes, would you mind sharing? Thank you,

    Cheers,

I am working with the 'Released engineering products creation' entity but it does not seem like there is a lot of documentation out there on how to use it. Was anyone able to successfully import versions?
