Work Class ID and Wave Templates

What is the communities thoughts on "Work Class IDs" and how you can dial in your warehouse.  Also can someone explain Work Class IDs for me and where else they live in D365 and how they correlate to the Warehouse App?

Second, Waves.  What are the thoughts on keeping Waves to an efficient size so then they become manageable work ids  I see that you can have thresholds on Waves by weight but not quantity.  If you maintain weights in D365 then you can go the weight route.  Thoughts?

Thank you!

You can use different Work Class IDs in a work template to separate tasks within a piece of work. You can find a concrete example of how that works in this blog post:

    Hi,

With manageable work ids are you referring to a scenario where you have e.g a maximum of one pallet per work ID? If so, check the general tab of the work template. If you are referring to a scenario where you for instance would like to process the wave when a certain work line threshold is met you can use the line quantity threshold field that is part of the wave template form.

For the work class question please see Markus response.

Waves, if you decide to Process them manually, reflect how you would like to release your picking work to the Warehouse. Although all of the lines on a single wave can go on to a single Work Id, you can use Work templates (and to a certain extent, Location directives) to break wave lines across multiple Work Ids.

If you decide that you don't want to Process waves as part of the Release to warehouse process, but also don't want to Process them manually, you can use the thresholds to have the Waves processed automatically.
