Import CONTACTS from another system into CRM 4.0

Please need to import CONTACTS from another system into CRM 4.0, however I need to keep the Contact ID (GuidID) from the original source...  Cannot generate a new one.

Please how would I do that?  Need to "insert" ContactBase and ContactExtensionBase (new) records...

    Hi Allaaqui,

Directly accessing the SQL Database and performing any sort of CRUD Operation is an unsupported customizations.

You need not insert any data to SQL rather use Import Data Wizard to map your existing GUID to the ContactId field, which stores the GUID of Contact Records.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Hi Allaaqui,

you don't need to insert into Contactbase and ContactExtensionBase  tables.. this not supported way by microsoft.

you can use CRM 4.0 web services to import contact data into CRM 4.0, and when importing in your program you need to set contact.contactid [CRM] value with existing GUID.. then CRM will not create new GUID for that record.. it will use assigned GUID.

Or if you are using CRM data import feature, then map contact ID from your existing system with ContactID primary key.

Here are some resources which might help you

Hope this will help to solve you issue.

Mappping contact guid column to  contact (primary key) field in CRM import process will  add  guid as primary key in CRM as well. You dont have to insert data into to 2 table CRM will take care of  mapping values to the right table internally . All you have to do is mapping fields to right fields in contact entity.
