Before you change sa password please to make sure no problem when print out document by using Reporting Services Report.
I have been change password "sa" then the result can't print out Reporting Services Report or print out customize with SSRS : HTTP Error 404 , here is my simulation guide :
All well and good except Microsoft still has the built-in issue that only the sa account can create new users in GP. For this reason only one person in our organization who has access to the password can set up new employees.
Noo, Not at all ... I was just adding my tiny point of view regarding your comment, for which I have all the respect.
To be honest, the interesting thing about this community is to get in touch with folks like you Sir ;)
Mahmoud - sorry if you thought I was slighting your response - it is a good a valued discussion - I was just putting my thoughts on line.
All is well
You are totally right, although, I personally prefer to go beyond the answer sometimes to provide further insight.
If your case is resolved, please feel free to close the it accordingly
Thanks to all for the help. We have changed the password successfully. I understand the concerns expressed, and appreciate the help.
While I would agree with the comments from Mahmoud and Babu, the question asked was how to change the SA password.
The correct answer is Jeff's reply.
This is an important topic, the 'sa' user is a critical user that should be well managed. The gentlemen above clear the way on how to change it from SQL management since the user can not be controlled from within Dynamics GP.
In addition to the above, you may consider minimizing the role of "sa" to the minimum, because this user has an ultimate access to create, modify or delete all data which is quite risky. FastPath has published an important white paper on how to minimize the use of "sa" in Microsoft Dynamics GP , you might be interested in taking a look at this paper for future consideration
Your feedback is highly appreciated,
Hi,
You can change the SA password in SQL but need to consider few things.
1) ODBC settings
2) Maintenance Plan and SQL jobs
please click here community post of the same.
Hi Didim,
You need to do this directly in SQL server management studio under the >Security>Logins. Then Right click on 'sa', click properties, change the password and enter it again to verify.
