Dynamic crm versioning and updating solution

Hi,

I am new to dynamics and in my present company thy are following the versioning approach while importing and exporting the solution from one environment to another environment.

For ex if I have Test Solution A with version 1.0.2 unmanaged in the dev crm and now that I want to export and import this solution to QA crm which is having Test solution A 1.0.0 unmanaged, Will this update the solution which is exsisting  with the version number and all customizations or will it create a new solution?

    Hello,

    It should update existing one and update all the components inside.

    Will this update the version number as well or should I change manually once I move to QA?

    How to does CRM know it should update that specific Unmanaged solution? Is that updating if the solution name matches to it or

    James,

    Every solution is a record inside CRM. As CRM Record it has own unique id so I believe that update is executed based on record id. Version will be updated automatically after import of new solution to QA Org.
