Entries are Doubling Up..........HELP!!!!!

I entered my GJ entries then ran the edit list before posting it.  The entries multiplied itself by two times.  The entries doubled up.  I went into the Test Environment to see if it will post to the GL twice and it did.  The original entry was made with one debit and one credit yet the Edit List showed TWO debits and TWO credits.  WHAT HAPPENED???  Our inhouse IT can't seem to find the problem.

    Did you by chance posted to a historical year?

    The entries were posted to the prior year as adjusting entries.

    so that means your double entry is correct, 1 set of entries affect previous year information, while the second set affects beg balances for current year and or retained earnings account.

    When you post entries to the most recent Historical (Closed) year, GP automatically creates entries to clear transactions through Retained Earnings and update Balances Brought Forward.  Look closely at the 'duplicate' entries and see if you can verify that is what you're seeing.

    OH GOODNESS!!!  I have LOST my mind!  I did not think about the roll-foward part of it.  DUH!  Thank you, gentlemen!
