How do I search for a word or phrase in the email associated with the accounts.

I have several years of emails that I have flagged from outlook using the Set Regarding button and they are now in CRM under each account as closed activities. I can scroll through the list of closed activities and select an email and read it. I have not found a way to search for a word or group of words in the closed activities in order to find an older correspondence with a customer.

I use to keep duplicate copies of all the email in my inbox. Outlook allowed a quick search to find anything. My inbox was getting into the multiple gigabyte range so I deleted most of the historical emails since there is a copy in CRM. Unfortunately I am not able to figure out a way to find an email with any sort or search tool in CRM?

    Hi Bill,

Suggest you to use Advanced Find.

Look for Email Messages, select the Subject or Description field and use operator as Contains and specify your string.

This will give you the desired result.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick response and easy to understand example. My Microsoft CRM online account was just updated to CRM 2015 and I noticed a new search feature. I sort of expected it to be a global search of my whole account. I entered a fairly unique word that I knew was in many emails and got no results.

Using the advanced find you outlined I go the list of emails I was expecting.

I see there are some ways to adjust what Search covers so maybe it is possible to do it there also. In the mean time I can use the advanced find.

    Hi Bill,

Yes Microsoft has provided a Global Search feature on the top navigation. But to achieve your result you need to configure the Global Search.

Global search can be configured by navigating Sittings-> Administration->System Settings->Set up Quick Find. We can include up to 10 entities for global search using select button.

However you can add more than 10 entities but it won’t allow you to save if you have more than 10 entities listed under Selected Entities.

In your case you need to add Email Entity to your Selected Entities space.

You can also change the order of entities in which order you want to see the result. Internally global search use quick find column for each entity to search the data.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

That seems to work in a limited number of cases. I think it has to do with the quick find column. I am not familiar with what that is or what it covers. I generally am wanting to do crawl through the email body to find a group of emails associated with a particular issue. This is not anything I planned for or created key words for.

This advance search solution that was proposed seems to work better for my needs.
