Privileges to Track Any Emails in Outlook Client

Hi there,

I have no way of testing this - no test users, no sandbox, no folks who can assist in testing.

Basically, my users are intermittently unable to track emails in Outlook Client. I have a hunch that this is happening on emails between two people where they are only copied. Not sure if there is a way to adjust permissions such that they can track any emails in their mailbox. Or, on the other hand, if there are any restrictions to what you can and cannot track wrt emails in your mailbox. Also running into an issue (published a separate post) where the users are unable to track any appointments. Not sure if the two could be somehow related. Any help is appreciated.

Best,

Blayze

    Hello Blayze,

The purpose of this post is to provide information that can help you to verify different scenarios:

    www.microsoft.com/.../overview-of-tracking-records-in-crm-for-outlook.aspx

    www.microsoft.com/.../track-outlook-appointments-in-crm-for-outlook.aspx

    www.microsoft.com/.../deleting-records-that-have-been-tracked-with-crm-for-outlook.aspx

    blogs.msdn.com/.../new-crm-for-outlook-basics-ebook-joins-growing-family-of-dynamics-crm-ebooks.aspx

I suggest you to have updated CRM Outlook:

Tracking and token by Aaron Richards:

    community.dynamics.com/.../crm-e-mail-tracking-part-3-tagging

    blogs.msdn.com/.../outlook-e-mail-tracking-tips-and-tricks.aspx

You can verify how you want to track elements for CRM and CRM Outlook and which records to create after an element is created, it can set in personal options and needs to be configured in diagnostics for CRM Outlook, verify that you have tracking enabled in mailbox configuration for CRM.

Hope this information can be helpful.

    Best regards,

We are having a similar problem at our organization.  Unless you are the individual that organized the meeting in Outlook, you can not track the meeting.  There are instances where other attendees need to track the meeting, or a meeting might be forwarded to another individual.  In both instances those individuals can not track the meeting.  We are running CRM 2015, and with Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.  This feature did work when we were running CRM 2013.  Is there a fix for this?  I have read the above posts however didn't see anything regarding this specific issue.

Just got off the phone and got this resolved for us. User level Read privilege for Record Creation and Update Rule (under Service Management) and User level Read privilege for Queue (under Core Records). Hope this helps you.
