Dynamic Excel sheet

Hi
I am using Finance & Operations.

I am looking at the moment on delayed receipts/orders.

I know how to download them in one excel sheet. But is there a way to download it as a "dynamic" excel sheet?

This way I can just press "Refresh all" in the excel sheet and it updates from F&O directly.

Please let me know if anyone managed this. I know there is a way in dynamics since Ive seen it in other forums...

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

I am not sure if I understand your requirement.

Can you explain what you mean by "download them in one excel sheet"?
Are you using the excel add-in to view the data via entities or do you export the data from a table?

You have basically 3 "main" approaches to achieve this and multiple ways to realize it.

1.: You work with entities where you pull the data into an excel using excel add-in. Either you have access to all necessary fields or you may have to adjust\recreate the entity if its just small changes. You can also use Power Automate if you dont want to pull it into an excel or send messages or something similar. If you consider using the dataverse connector with Power automate you may have different fields as the virutal entities are used.

2.: You can export the data and use a Power BI report or connect to your own database of the exported data where you can pull out the data however you want - of course the data is not up to date in this approach. A fabric link may solve this issue where you have 1 hour delay or so.

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi

What I mean is that I can download the data in one excel list but I want the data in that excel list to update automatically from Dynamics F&O when pressing "refresh"

This way I dont need to download an new excel every time.

    Good day,

There isn't a out-of-the box Excel entity available:

I think the best solution is a Power BI report.

    Best regards,

    Hi

Not sure on what form you currently look at "delayed receipts/orders". If you press the Office icon, there are two sections possible: Open in Excel and Export to Excel. In case you have the option Open in Excel, that will create an Excel file including the Dynamics connector to be able to refresh the data. That option is only available if the data source of the form is also supported with a public data entity. Export to Excel is just exporting all data on the grid without the refresh option.

In case the Open in Excel is not available on your form, a data entity might miss. A developer can then extend the application for you.

the form "Delayed receipts" is made up of 1 view which is related to query involving two tables:

    Table Range Value
    PurchLine
      PurchStatus Backorder
      IsDeleted No
      RemainPurchPhysical !0
    PurchTable
      DocumentState Approved/Confirmed

So, to achieve the same result, you need to use data entities of PurchaseOrderLineV2, PurchaseOrderHeaderV2

Go to the Common Module > Office Integration > Excel Workbook Designer.
Then select the PurchaseOrderLineV2 entity and add relevant fields, click on Create Blank Workbook.

After adding the PurchaseOrderLineV2, you need to add PurchaseOrderHeaderV2 (explained in given blog), then put necessary filters as given at first table. Then Click on Refresh, it will showcase all the relevant data as per requirement.

You can take hint from this blog on how to add data from PO lines and PO headers.

Important note: Since this framework is using the Excel add-in, it allows to make the changes and update back to D365, so make sure to lock this file with password so that no changes are allowed here.

Please try using this process and let us know the results. Hope this will give you desired result.

    Regards,
    Neeraj Kumar

    Hi,

You can use below suggestions from Neeraj but make sure it write back as well.

If you going to use very frequently or other teammates. Then easiest would be to have BYOD simply add these entity and publish them. Then use Power Query you can create your view and calculations.

This may need tech guy to do step .
