Open Sales Order - No Action Count

Hi Community,

Is there a way to have an indication if an action has been made to a Sales Order? Was thinking of setting up Interactions on Sales Order so processors can input the actions taken. Then will create a query where the status of Sales Order is Open and no interactions where logged. Or are there other ways to do it? Goal is to check which Sales Order are not actioned yet on a given time after creation and be able to count how many are they. Thanks!
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

You can do it with simple customization like a field of Status of Work option. User can select if after order is created at what stage your order is, if status and update is all you want.

Alternatively if you want more details like action performed, who did it, when etc. I guess it is better to create Interaction or Actions tab where you customize these fields and allow user to enter details.

The counts of action or last action and last user you can show on Sales order list page with simple flow field.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

To reliably track whether an Open Sales Order has been actioned, customization is required. Standard Business Central does not provide this indicator out of the box; it must be tracked using interactions, the last modified date, or a custom flag

Is there a way to do this without customization? And more on configuration only of out of the box functionality?

    Hello,
While logging Interactions on Sales Orders can work, it’s manual and overkill for this requirement; the cleaner and commonly used solution is to add a custom “Last Action Date/Time” or “Action Taken” field on the Sales Header and update it automatically via events (release, edit, posting, approval, etc.), which then lets you easily report and count Open sales orders with no action or no activity after X time—this is simpler, more reliable, and far better for operational tracking.
    Regards,

Hi, Try using the standard fields below to see if it solves the problem. Then consider customization.

Every table in Business Central includes the following four system fields, which can be used for auditing records:

Field name (in AL) Column name (in database) Data type Field number Description
SystemCreatedAt $systemCreatedAt DateTime 2000000001 Specifies the data and time that the record was created.
SystemCreatedBy $systemCreatedBy GUID 2000000002 Specifies security ID (SID) of the user that created the record.
SystemModifiedAt $systemModifiedAt DateTime 2000000003 Specifies the data and time that the record was last modified.
SystemModifiedBy $systemModifiedBy GUID 2000000004 Specifies the SID of the user that last modified the record
