Custom entities with many-to-many relationship: Cannot use "add-existing" to add a record (PLEASE HELP!)

I'm using Dynamics CRM 2013 SP1 (tried RU 1 and 2). I have two custom entities (entity A and entity B). I have a many-to-many relationship between these two entities.

I have a subgrid on form of entity A. This subgrid points to the many-many relationshion of entity B.When I use the plus sign "+" to add an existing record of type B to the subgrid. Nothing happens. I get the modular-dialog and I can select a record, but it will be added.

The same happens when I try the associated view (from the navigation bar)  and using "add-existing". I can select a record, but it will be added to the grid/as a related record.

This is a very blocking issue and I hoped that it was fixed with SP1 RU2. But it is not fixed. Any workaround?

    Hi There,

Are you using Google Chrome. If yes please switch to IE and verify your result.

    Thanks

    Hi Mithilesh Kumar,

I'm using IE 9  and IE 10. I have tested this also in the newest version of Chrome.

I know that IE9 is not officially supported, but even in the supported version (IE10) I have the same issue.

    Hi,

Since you are able to select the Records of Entity B in Sub Grid of Entity A, but the records do not appear tells that functionality wise everything is okay.

This seems Browser issue to me. You may consider testing the same in Firefox as well.

Here is a cut out from an article.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

I have tried this in FireFox. Same issue. It is not a browser issue.

It see be an issue with many-to-many relationships between custom entities.

more users with the same issue??? I have tried it on two different deployments, same issue can be reproduced!

    Hi MicroInvestements,

Let me rephrase what you are trying to Achieve. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

    1. You have two Entities A and B

    2. Relationship between them is N:N

    3. You have a Sub Grid on Entity A for above relationship

    4. Now you want to add the Records using the "+" Plus button from the Sub Grid

    5. You go to Lookup More Records and Select your desired record of Entity B

    6. Click Okay, but you cannot see any records in the Sub Grid

    7. There has not been any error message popup during the entire process. Only problem is you cannot see the added record in the Sub Grid

However, can you please also check if you have Append and AppendTo privilege on Entity A and Entity B respectively.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

I'm a system administrator. So I think it cannot be a security issue. :(

I have a similar issue. I am logged in as user a user with system administrator privileges. I can click the + button and the look-up window opens. I select one of the related records and click Add. The look-up window closes but nothing else happens. I don't see the added record in the subgrid. Is there any way to check if the records have been linked. Because then one can say it's a UI related problem.

    Hallo,

Are there any news about this issue?

I´ve exactly the same problem with Dynamics CRM 2015. We tested everything and we´re sure that this is not a security issue. Looks more like a UI bug.

Situation: We´ve a subgrid on the account entity which points the many-many relationship to a custom entity. Nothing happens when I use the plus on account to add an existing record of my custom entity to the subgrid (account). –> Standard procedure of CRM and everything looks fine, but the record will not be added.

When we do this from the other side. Add the account to the record of my custom entity the record will be shown and added through the subgrid of the account. So this way works fine.

We also test new customizations with new configurations of many-many relationships and everything works fine. Only this existing many-many subgrid won´t work.

I tested this scenario in both entities in CRM 2013 Sp1 Ur2 and it works fine for me. I will be working with one of my customers on this tomorrow. Will update the thread if I find and isolate the issue.
