We currently use price embedded EAN13 barcodes for the majority of our items. Because the price is embedded, the price in the item properties is $0.00. Occasionally we want to run sales on these items, for example 50% off. Using the item price wizard to set the sale price is impossible, because it sets the sale price to 50% off of $0.00, making the price effectively $0.00 no matter what the embedded price is. To get around this, we use quantity discounts with a mix and match scheme of 50% off for every 1 item with the discount odd items button checked. This works fine, but the problem is there is no wizard to apply quantity discounts to groups of items, it is all set per individual item in the application. Now, we get around this by using SQL queries and jobs to apply the discounts to the items. However, when you get into using SQL queries it puts the responsibility on the IT department (myself included), not the people in Retail who should be managing this.
So I guess you could say this a feature request. It could go either way in my opinion. Change the behavior of the sale price column to allow a percentage off, percentage over cost, etc instead of a hard price, and have that calculated at the POS. Or, create something in the GUI that allows users to apply quantity discounts to groups of items through the item filter. Does anyone have a third party workaround for something like this?

I have the same question (0)as i know ,
An ean-13 barcode (originally European Article Number, but now renamed International Article Number even though the abbreviation EAN has been retained) is a 13 digit (12 data and 1 check) barcoding standard which is a superset of the original 12-digit Universal Product Code (UPC) system developed in the United States.[1]The EAN-13 barcode is defined by the standards organization GS1.
The EAN-13 barcodes are used worldwide for marking products often sold at retail point of sale. The numbers encoded in EAN-13 bar codes are product identification numbers, which are also called Japanese Article Number (JAN) in Japan. All the numbers encoded in UPC and EAN barcodes are known as Global Trade Item Numbers (GTIN), and they can be encoded in other GS1 barcodes.
