A Journal Owner Can't Allow to Post his/her Journal Entries

Hi There,

Is there a better way than the Workflow Approval to perfect something like, "User A creates a journal but restricts from posting, while other users can." ?

If so, how to set it up?
I have the same question (0)

As far as I know, this requires customization.
It can be controlled by SystemCreatedBy before posting.

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

I agree with Yun, this is only possible with customization or workflows

    Thanks very much Yun.

I also agreed to your point. I just don't know if there's a way to get SystemCreateBy and then add an If condition to block the approver (who acts as journal owner) to post his/her own journal through a standard Workflow template.

The other alternative is to have a dynamic approver list that excludes the current user (who is also an designated approver).

Hi, A very simple example, you can also add it to posting related events.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

There’s no standard setting in Business Central to prevent the journal creator from posting their own journal while allowing others to post it.

    ✅ Suggested solution:
This can be achieved through a small customization. You can:

Add a custom field to store the Journal Owner/User ID

Modify the posting logic to block posting if the current user = journal owner

Allow posting if another user reviews and posts the journal

This ensures only someone other than the journal creator can post the entry.

🔧 Please contact your Microsoft partner or AL developer to implement this.

Mark this as the verified answer if it helps.
