Fixed Assets

Hello,

I have a query regarding Fixed Assets in Business Central. Some Fixed Assets were mistakenly set up in the company's BC profile. These assets lack a Book Value and do not have any associated FA Ledger Entries, yet they appear to have been acquired.

I've encountered difficulty in deleting these Fixed Assets. Could someone please advise if there's a workaround for this issue?

Regards,

Victor

Can you expand on this, do you get an error message when you try to delete them?

    Hi Valentin,

I appreciate your prompt response. Although I'm not encountering any error messages, I've noticed that the Delete button appears to be inactive both in the Fixed Assets Card and the main section of Fixed Assets. Additionally, the General FastTab is grayed out, preventing any modifications. I suspect this might be related to licensing or permissions.

Interestingly, I have access to an app called Data Editor, which grants me access to the tables. While attempting to delete a Fixed Asset from table 5600, I encountered the following error:

    Thank you,

    Victor

If you can't use the delete action, perhaps you're missing the required permissions. Its not related to your license.

The error you have below is because your fixed assets are setup to have a parent/child or main asset/component relationship. You will have to delete the component fixed asset first, and then you can delete the main parent asset. Alternatively, you can remove all the parent/child relationships and then you will be able to delete the assets in any order.

On the fixed asset card you can see in the Component of Main Asset field if the asset is part of a component/main asset relationship. In the main asset, you can also click on the Main Asset Components action button to view what is setup as a component.

Hi, there is a similar discussion here, hope it can give you some hints.
Alternatively, you may also consider disabling it instead of deleting it directly..

    Thanks.

    Hi Valentin,

    You asked:

The Delete button is grayed out and the General FastTab is greyed out as well. If this is a permission issue, what permission do I need to be able to edit and delete?

Super permissions should be enough. It looks like the delete button is not greyed out in the card itself. Have you tried the solution suggested with the components/main asset?

    Hi Valentin,

You're right, I can see the Delete button on the FA card but clicking it doesn't actually delete the FA. Just wanted to bring this to your attention.

    Thanks,
    Victor

Do you see the same error that the main asset cannot be deleted?

    Hi Valentin,

I receive no error or any message of any kind when I choose the Delete button on the FA card. I am supposed to be given an Essential license. Hopefully, that will solve the issue. I have no idea why so many features are grayed out for me. I have SUPER as a permission.

Thanks for everyone's help. I may also need to start a ticket with Microsoft.
