Copy a custom field from Lead to Opportunity during Qualify Step

I created a custom field new_region in the Lead entity.  I also have same field in Opportunity entity.  If a Region exists in Lead, I would like the Qualify action to copy the new_region value from the Lead to the Opportunity Entity.  What are the steps involved please?  Thank you!

    go to settings>>Customization>>customize the system>>Entity>>Leads>>1:n mapping>>click opportunity originating lead>>New >>select source fields & click ok>>Publish customizations

    Hi,

You dont need to build new relationship, its already in CRM

    lead2oppmapp.PNG

Double click on relationship, then you will see Information and Mappings on left side navigation panel.

Click on Mappings and then click on new button.

Then you need to select your Region attribute from source(Lead) to Target Opportunity.

Click OK, Save entity and publish your customization.. done.

Note: when you are mapping attributes, you need same data type and same length in both source and target entity.

Here are more details about attribute mapping

    Hi VJH,

You can use mapping from Lead to Opportunity.

Use the OOB Relationship Lead - Opportunity, not other relationship.

    See this link:

    www.zero2ten.com/.../processing-opportunities-created-after-qualifying-leads-on-the-new-user-experience-forms-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm

And other example, but change it to the Opportunity entity like the first link:

    www.pardot.com/.../mapping-your-mscrm-lead-fields-to-contact-fields

Overall, What you need to do is go to the Customization

Go to the Lead and then expand the 1:N Relationship, find the Relationship to the related entity = Opportunity (find the OOB relationship with field name = Originating Lead)

Then double click, edit the mappings (from the first link already explain the detail steps with picture) then add your custom field you want to copy.

Just take a note, you need to make sure the entities Lead and Opportunity are having the same field with same type.

I think your region is either Lookup or Single line of text.

If you are using Option Set make sure using Global Option Set.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.
