Use of spaces in Dimension Code Names

I assume you can't have a space in a dimension code? I have only just realised this when trying to upload budgets. We have been using 2 x dimensions for a number of years with the names PRODUCT GROUP and CUSTOMER GROUP and never experienced any issues until now when we come to upload budgets. I have searched online for confirmation of this spacing rule but can only find demos of setting up dimensions and can see that nobody uses spaces.

If this is the case, how do I fix the 2 x dimensions already in use on my system. Do I simply remove the space in the code and rename?

I have the same question (0)

Basically once you rename the dimension it will automatically every field in every record where the dimension table is specified as TableRelation. This won't happen for the Dimension Filters in specific parts of the application because it has type of Text and no connection to the Dimension table. What the issue you experience when upload the budget? I'm curios if this can be fixed somehow.

This is the error message I receive.

The other thought I had is that the 2 x dimensions we have set up with spaces are our global dimensions.  Does that have something to do with the issue?

This message is for C/AL programmers:

The call to member Add failed. Microsoft Excel returned the following message:

The name that you entered is not valid.

    Reasons for this can include:

-The name does not begin with a letter or an underscore

-The name contains a space or other invalid characters

-The name conflicts with an Excel built-in name or the name of another object in the workbook

That is actually even better. Use the "Change Global Dimensions" batch report from the General Ledger Setup and it will do the rename action.

Sorry Artur, I have 2009 version. I did Financial Management/General Ledger/Setup/General Ledger Setup. In the dimensions tab, all the dimensions are selected from a drop down list so I can't rename anything?
