Management Reporter CU10 - Data Integration Error

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

Hi All -

One of our clients is periodically getting this error:

Reader returned fewer objects for processing (0) than expected (1).

The error is flagged during the GL Transaction to Face/CompanyProvider to Company/CompanyProvider to Organization integration tasks. The message is always the same (except for the processing & expected totals [which vary depending on the integration task and how much new data is being integrated]).

The client is on MR2012 CU10 with the CU10 Hotfix applied.

Any ideas on this one? We are looking to find out what the impact of this error is, what might be causing it, and how we can stop it from happening in the future?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

James.

    Hi James,

Although not seeing any issues in Management Reporter, we are seeing this issue appear in the service logs in the configuration console.  Ever determine what the cause of the issue was?

    Thanks,

    Kyle

    Hi All -

Here is what I discerned from MS Support and my own discovery work. This error message is not a problem if it is not repetitive (e.g. the same integration job is failing time after time). It denotes that the integration was not able to fully process. Usually this means that SQL was overburdened at the time of the integration job and it could not complete. Any records not integrated should be picked up by the integration job the next time it runs. If the same fails every time then something more nefarious might be going on. In that case I would recommend rebuilding the data mart integration. You could also look at the SQL server RAM to see if it is being fully consumed...if so I would recommend adding more RAM.

    Cheers,

    James.

    Thanks James

Your email was very re-assuring -

I have setup an alert to let me know when this condition occurs

As you suggested - I will ignore - unless it becomes repetitive

and will rebuild the datamart - if needed

    thanks again

    One additional request --

Should the DM be using SQL or Windows authentication ?

    What do you suggest

    Thanks again

Probably personal preference but I've always used SQL validation using the sa account.  The password never changes and that user will always have access to the GP databases.

    Hi James

I have been in touch with Microsoft and the response was that if it is not continuous - It is probably not of concern as the integration fixed itself on the next cycle -

If it continues to happen in close intervals - I suggest calling Microsoft

There is a hot fix anticipated to address this issue - hopefully soon

    Hope this helps

If I can be of any further help - please let me know
