Email marketing campaign activities fail after the first 20 emails. The Campaign status says "In Progress" with 17 successes and 3 failures. System Jobs shows a Workflow regarding the Campaign with the System Job Name "ActivityPropagation" which is "Waiting for retry due to error." When I resume the job, it goes to In Progress before returning to Waiting for retry, but the combined successes and failures in the campaign status increases by 20. (It is sending 20 emails, then failing and when the job is resumed it sends the next 20 then fails.) When I open the system job it says "Invalid Recipient Type." The details message is "The 'Update' method does not support entities of type 'bulkoperation'." The Activity propagation workflow is Microsoft.Dynamics.Marketing.Workflows (9.0.0.0):Microsoft.Dynamics.Marketing.Workflows.ActivityPropagationOperation. When I view the properties of that, there is a property name "Batch size." which is set to 20. Everything works fine for tests of less then 20 recipients. How do I increase this limit from 20 to something closer to infinite?
Thank you,
Matt

Does anyone have a fix for this?? It's a problem for me over here in 2021!! I'm trying to upgrade beyond 9.0.0.0 but seem unable to.
Yes. That was what happened to us too.
In 9.0.1.733 the batch size was still limited to 20, but the system broke the campaign up into numerous ActivityPropagation workflows and that worked.
Hi, many thanks for your comment. Can you confirm if you have a Process in your version called ActivityPropagation, this a workflow that is triggered when we send out emails. Within the process is a rule that limits the batch size to 20. This seems to be the root cause of our issue. Do you have the same process?
On Ver 1612 9.0.2.54 DB 9.0.2.54 and it’s working for us. Rememebr if you have any emails stuck in pending state you need to delete them before anymore can go out, check that just incase.
We are still unable to use this we are running on Ver 1612 9.0.2.54 DB 9.0.2.54, incredibly frustrating and poor response from Microsoft in terms of resolution.
Yes, it was fixed in 9.0.1.733.
We were just upgraded to 9.0.2.54 and haven't tested under that version yet.
It looks like the whole Marketing module will be replaced by Dynamics 365 for Marketing soon, but that is still in trial / preview for now.
Was this ever resolved, I'm having the same issue...
Matt, we were advised to install the full Outlook Client to resolve the problem. It didn't work either. I don't understand why there isn't more information available about this problem, surely its occurring in more than a few instances. This shouldn't be that hard to fix surely?
Our Dynamics was updated to Version 1612 (9.0.1.510) (DB 9.0.1.459) online.
I tried restarting the workflow again. The same error occurred.
In the Process: ActivityPropagation Set Custom Step Input Properties the Batch size was still fixed at 20.
The problem still isn’t fixed.
It's been more than 2 weeks since I put the support ticket in.
Wayne,
I put in a support ticket with Microsoft through the Office 365 admin portal. After escalating it to programming they told me that: "this was the known issue with Dynamics 365 version(9.0.1.459). According to Our team, the fix is available in Dynamics 365 version (9.0.1.506). So, I request you to please upgrade the dynamics 365 App for using this functionality." Of course, we have no ability to request upgrades, so I just had to wait until Microsoft decided to apply it to our instance. I see today that we've been updated to 9.0.1.510. I haven't had a chance to test it to see if it's fixed yet or not.
