Saving report as a PDF not working in GP2015

Posted on by 10

I used to be able to save reports in a PDF format and now I can't.  I'm not sure what happened.  If I try to save a report in a PDF format I first receive an error message that says, "Unable to Start Printing" and after I click "OK" I receive a Microsoft Dynamics GP message that says, "Cannot open printer, check printer selection."

Any ideas?  Adobe Acrobat X Pro has been working fine with all other applications.

Make sure your forms printer has print to file option selected and format Adobe PDF as the file type.

You would need Adobe Pro(Licensed version) only if you are using Send To >> Mail Recipient (PDF) option, otherwise any other PDF writer would work for simple PDF printing. I use Cute PDF writer. if you are already owning the Adobe Pro, probably reinstall might fix the issue.

Hmmmm, good question.  I'm not sure.  In the past, I'd select "Print" from the "Reports Options" screen and then save to a PDF file and when the program was finished the file would save to where I selected.  Now it won't work.  Wondering if I should reinstall Adobe Acrobat?

When you are in the report setup page, make sure you select Print Setup and make the PDF writer your default. Then we you select the report for printing, it should create the PDF file for you.
