I am trying to finish creating our Word Quote template but seem to be having a small issue, being that I cannot get the product number to show up in its field.

I have tried a multitude of various options including: productid, name, and productnumber but they call come back with the full description of the item not the product number. Can someone let me know what I am missing. On our old SQL based reports we used "productnumber" and it worked fine.

Hi Peter,

In your Word Quote template, you're retrieving data from the "Quote Line" Entity.

This entity doesn't have the Product Number stored inside of so you will not be able to retrieve that information in the Standard CRM template. As you can see the productid is a lookup to the product:

Therefore you have three options:

Add a custom field in the Quote Line Entity (cheapest and easiest).

Each Time a Quote Line is created, retrieve the Product ID and place it in this custom field.

You may use a Plugin or a Workflow to achieve this.

Then you can show this field in the Word Document.

Use an SSRS Report instead of a Word Template (Probably not what you're looking for).

Use MSCRM Addons Documents Core Pack

Nice if you have money to spend

Or if you plan to build a lot of complex Word Documents (we use it to mange 8 different languages).

With this solution you can go as "deep" as you want with the relationships between entities and get the data you want in your document. You would therefore be able to get the Product Number from the productId lookup.
