While picking garments from aisle C, warehouse workers encountered an issue with their Zebra devices. When scanning the check digit of a location, the device repeatedly displayed the same item for the initial location. This behavior was consistently observed for multiple items in aisle C, necessitating manual entry of check digits as scanning proved ineffective.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that check digits in D365 F&O are not unique and can be shared by multiple locations. In some instances, a single check digit may be associated with up to 22 different locations.

While numerous locations share the same check digit, the system has functioned without issue until now. The problem is specific to aisle C, as aisles A and B, which also have shared check digits, have not experienced any difficulties.

How can we resolve this?

Hi

I noticed that all 2125 storage locations utilize a 2-digit check digit system, with values ranging from 01 to 99. Unfortunately, almost 20 locations within this system share identical check digits.
The user reports that they've been using this system with duplicate check digits since the beginning (2022). However, they haven't experienced any problems until now, and the issue is currently limited to Aisle C and not issue with other Aisle.

any suggestion on this please ?

Multiple locations with the same check digit is fine; probably not relevant for this issue.

If it works when you type in the check digit (e.g. 93) but not when you scan the check digit, I suggest there is a problem related to the Zebra perhaps. What happens if you scan one of the problematic check digits using the Zebra in to a notes app?

Can we change check digits for all the location to make unique value for all the locations. To change check digits along with print labels for all the existing locations will this be right approach ? Any suggestions on this please?

Good day,

My advice is to export the location to Excel, update the check digits in Excel and than import the locations back in Dynamics.

After the update, you can consider to activate the parameter 'Use unique check digits' on the warehouse

If we use data management import functionality to modify check digits for 2300 locations, will this cause any impact on available stock/ transaction?

I don't think so, but my recommendation is to test it first in a test environment.
