Crm 2011: ribbons in system user overview defect (invisible)

We have a strange behaviour after the migration crm 4 to crm 2011: when i open in the  web browser via "Settings -> Administration' the "Users" overview the ribbon menu doesn't change to the users ribbon menu but rests in  the administration ribbon menu and is blocked. When i open the same view in the outlook client we see the correct ribbon menu.
The behaviour is very strange and doesn't have to do with bad customization or security rules because of the follwing:
+ The same user sees the ribbons on another station
+ An other user sees the ribbons on the station; the same is true when the IE is running under another user (runas)
+ When the crm4-client is deactivated in the system tray the user sees the ribbon correct in the  IE
+ After uninstall the crm 4 outllok client the ribbons are not visible in th IE!
+ Installing the new crm 2011 client didn't solve the problem
+ The same behaviour occurs on all (!) organisations on the same server (aganinst which the outlook client was running) but works on other crm servers
+ The ribbons are seen correct in the outlook client

I have tried a lot and for me it was very strange that the behviour also occurs on other organizations (but only on the same server). It seems that something rests on the client even after uninstalling the outlook client incl. controlling the registry and cleaning up the local app data ) and this "piece" have saved some information about the old crm 4 client and the attached server).

Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?

That is very weird...have you tried clearing cache?

It is odd that it works just fine in Outlook but not on the web client.

    Hi  Karl,

Please delete your windows profile and login again on the same machine. You can follow the steps below:

On you windows 7 client machine,

    1.  Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.

    2.  Click Advanced System settings.

    3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.

    4.  Under User Profiles, click Settings.

    5.  In the User Profiles dialog box, select your profile, click Delete, and then click OK.

    6.  Please log off and log back in. A new profile will be created.

Let me know if that works?

    Hi  Apurv,

thanks very much for your answer, it solved the problem!

I deleted my windows profile and it works on my station. There must be something saved in the local profile which is not removed when you uninstall the outlook client.

Because there is some work to delete and re-customize the user profiles of all users: do you have some idea which local saved part could cause the problem? We could then remove only this part of the local windows profile.

    Thanks

    Karl

    Hi Karl,

Good to know that your issue was resolved. Well I cannot say for sure about the particlar item stored in local store. It's all cached items stored in Windows profile and outlook profile. Deleting the profile clears all the items and creates everything afresh.

    Regards,

    Hi all,

we had for the above problem also a support case at microsoft open. After the "brute-force"-solution above we gave them the link to  this thread and asked for a solution without the need to delete the local user windows profile. And Miss Budsadee from Microsoft had a solution:

    Original advise:

To avoid deleting and creating a windows profile, our suggestion is to clear all files from the following places:-

    1.       %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

    2.       %userprofile%\AppData\Local \Temp

Please note that deleting files directly from Temporary Internet Files folder is different from clicking Delete under Browsing history in internet option.

Really deleting the files seems to be different to delete the files only under Browsing history what i have done.

Remark: you don't see the folder "Temporary Internet Files" in the windows explorer but you can do this:

Start -> type "Iinternet Options", then "Settings" , click "Show Files"  and then delete all files

    Regards Karl
