Hi Folks,
I am trying to find out how to change particular translations that were made for the French Canadian language.
Some translations just dont' make any sense like "Bin" that is translated to "Code de zone" which doesn't mean anything in French.
Is it doable?
Thanks,
Bernard
Hi Bernard,
French Canadian is not my forte but if this translation does not have any meaning for this country language then be sure to have your CSP (or you, if you are CSP) log a support request to Microsoft in order to let translation team knows about this. Be prepared to provide evidence and justification to this requested change in translation.
If translation team would uptake the changes, these could be implemented in the next minor or major update for BC.
Hi Josh,
Thanks for your reply.
I did the following..
1- I Extracted all translations where the "Bin" word is badly translated in French (from the base app files) and added it to a new file. Got the error message saying that there is already a translation file for fr-CA language.
2- I moved all the translations to my app translation file, published and it worked.
3- I did some more dev and synchronized the translations units
4- All the base app translations got deleted.
Should I put the base translations (en-US) from the "Base Application.g.xlf" into the base translation file of my app too?
As you know, there are a lot of "Bin" words in the base app so I prefer doing it the right way once :-)
Thanks' for your valuable help,
Bernard
This resource shows how page modifications an be done: docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-page-ext-object
One of the properties on a page is captionML which you can modify to a different value
On a grander scale translations can be handled with this method: docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-work-with-translation-files
There are development tools for this as it’s a standardised format
