How to resolve this issue:
1) Ensure Assembly Policy = Assemble-to-Stock
2) Ensure Reordering Policy = anything other than blank (Lot-for-Lot in this example)
3) If using Locations (which you should), ensure a Stockkeeping Unit exists for the Item/Location combination (with above Planning Parameters)
4) In Manufacturing Setup (regardless of Production), turn on "Use forecast on locations" and "Use forecast on variants"
5) Use the Planning Worksheet
6) Ensure your Forecast is in the Calc. Regen. Plan option
7) Ensure your Planning Horizon includes the dates set in your Demand Forecast (demo data dates in the past)
If you follow these steps, you will see a result in your Planning Worksheet. If you struggle with these settings or MRP in general, you should reach out to a partner who specializes in Manufacturing and Inventory Management.
P.S. If you selected "Fixed Reorder" or "Max Inventory" for the Reordering Policy, if your Demand Forecast doesn't drop you below your Reorder Point you will not get a suggestion (which would be the correct suggestion).
