Related Entity Does Not Contain Data not available in Views?

Hi All,

I was very happy when MS introduced the availability of searching within an Advanced Find where a 'Related Entity Does Not Contain Data' - it's something we'd been needing for ages.

Today I thought I'd take one of those advanced finds and make a corresponding system view for it - only to discover that it's not possible from the UI to add the 'does not contain data' part into the related entity. Is there some special reason for this or is it an oversight? Seems crazy to me to add such a useful feature but then disallow it in system views - looks like a job half done!

Could you share the screenshot of your query please?

Please see the screenshot of what I get  and also follow the links below if you would like to have read about the feature

    Hello there,

You are actually right. This is very well available in advanced find but not in system/public views filters. I have verified the same in my trial.

You can share the the views and idea here : https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/   hopefully we could have it in future.

As a workaround, I think you can apply this in system views by generating the fetch Xml in Advanced Find, and writing this to the fetchxml attribute of the savedquery. The are 2 ways to update the fetchxml attribute:

    1. Programmatically via the CRM API - you can update a savedquery record like any other record
    2. Create an unmanaged solution containing the view. Export it, then edit fetchxml within the customizations.xml, then reimport

    Thanks David,

We took option 2. I do find it odd that the UI doesn't support the full capability of FetchXML (including other items too, like being able to do an OR between related records). It's utterly a limitation of the UI and not the underlying search, which seems entirely avoidable.

I was able to create a system view and then update it using XRMToolBox -> View Designer. This worked as expected.

I was able to create personal view and update it on XrmToolBox -> View Designer.
