Alt Key closes application

Posted on by

I hope someone can help me.

We have a custom Dexterity Rental application, converted from Dex 7.5 to Dex 14 in January this year.

The application talks to Dynamics GP via eConnect.

The issue we have is that if a user goes to Alt-Tab to another application (such as Excel or Outlook), sometimes our Rental application will shut down instead.

Further investigation and testing has shown that the problem is with the Alt key.  Just hitting the Alt key shuts down the application.  It doesn't matter if I am running as a fat client or thin client, it just closes the application.

This has only started happening with Dex 14.  If I run the old version, hitting Alt works fine.

When I hit the Alt key, I can see all of the File, Edit, Tools, etc menu items get underscores beneath them just before it shuts down.

Interestingly, if I am at the login screen, it will not shut down.  It only happens once the user is logged in.  It doesn't seem to matter if I am in the middle of a screen entry or just at the menu, it just shuts down.

I have checked the event logs but there is nothing there.

If this is a known bug with Dex 14, I would be happy to hear about a fix or if anyone has a work around that would be great too.

Regards,

Mark Fraser
