Well, I can see these forums are going to be nothing like the newsgroup was in communicating with our peers. I am very disappointed we lost that resource, and almost feel as if I've lost a good friend. I had been active for almost 6 years on that group. I really believe MS did us a disservice by shutting it down. I find forums to be very clunky to read and manage. It also doesn't seem like there is much activity here. Certainly not the activity MS would have us believe. I think I have been posting mainly to myself the last 2 or 3 weeks. MS says the forums were getting more popular than the NG's and they wanted to make the best use of their resources. That might be true for some of their products, but the RMS group was very active. If you had a reasonable question it was answered very quickly and accurately. Usually in less than a day. So far I don't see that happening here. As a matter of fact it seems as if most questions go unanswered. Maybe things will pick up. I hope they do because I can use the help and I'm sure others could also. The NNTP bridge they told us about isn't working either. Just one more disappointment with MS's attempt at "Self Support". Things were good the old way(newsgroup). Sometimes new is not better. {END RANT} Craig

    I third that.....

The little digging I've done on this NG leaves much to be desired - few contributions - little traffic - will take a long time to get it to the level the other NG had.

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for sharing your concerns with the newsgroups going away. I hope the community forums will be able to fulfill your needs around self support. I feel once the communities Microsoft Dynamics RMS forums become more well known like the Microsoft Dynamics GP fourms have, you will hopefully get the same response time as in the newsgroups.

I just wanted to highlight some the features that are available to you as a community member and a forum user. The forums allow for you to network with other users. If you want to communicate directly with another forums user you just need to click on their name in the forums and this will take you to the individuals public profile. You can view all the topics they have been involved with, send them your e-business card once accepted it will be added to your address book, this will allow for you to create your own social network on the community site. You can send them a private message, send them a e-mail, click on their organization page to learn more about the individuals organization. This is a great networking tool. Here's a link for more information around these features: https://community.dynamics.com/content/help.aspx

Coming in our next release there will be a lot of added features added, which will make the usability of the site a lot easier for our members. These features have been created from the feedback we have received from our community members. The ability to search the site is one of our biggest improvements coming with this next release. Here's a couple of blog posts around the reaction we have received from the individuals we have shown the new community to: https://community.dynamics.com/blogs/brandongeorge/archive/2010/05/20/microsoft-dynamics-community-site-set-for-major-improvements.aspx  & https://community.dynamics.com/blogs/gpmsdyworldfa/archive/2010/05/14/why-the-phaseout-of-the-microsoft-dynamics-public-newsgroups-is-a-good-thing.aspx

If you have questions around the community please let me know. I would love to help anyone out to get started on the community.

I'm glad to see a few of the familiar names. The newsgroup was such a valuable resource... Hopefully Jeff @ Check Point crosses over, he was great!
