Workflow trigger on assignment not working

Hi,

A new workflow was published to send an alert email when a lead is assigned.  I tested it by assigning a test lead to myself and everything worked as designed.  However, it does not fire when a lead is assigned to anyone else.

I recreated the issue in dev with a very simple workflow shown below.  It still only fires when the lead is assigned to me, not when I assign it to someone else.

I tried using a trigger to fire if the owner field changes.  However, the system recognizes that as the same as when assigned, and changes it back to "Record is Assigned" as the trigger.  It's all rather odd.

Please would someone help me understand how I get a workflow to fire on assignment to anyone?

Many thanks for your help!

Rob

    Hi Rob,

Looking at the screenshot , did you purposefully set tot scope to "User" if yes , this is the reason you are getting this issue . while settings the scope to user you should keep in mind :

    1. Choosing this scope means the workflow will run only on the records owned by the same user as the workflow owner user.

2.You have to change scope while creating a workflow to allow the workflow to work for someone else.

Thanks Rawish - that was the answer.  I changed the scope and it works fine now.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.
