TSYS Connection Error

Posted on by

I now have 2 customers with this issue that just started about week ago.  The first customer is running POS 2009 on 2 lanes, and the one call I just took is running POS 2.0 in a single lane

They have been processing cards via TSYS. A couple weeks ago they started geting an error message when processing a card: "the underlying connection was closed could not establish a trust relationship for ssl/tsl secure channel"

This is an intermittant issue, it comes and goes. When it comes it lasts for  a while, they're unable to take cards for an hour or sometimes two.  The internet connections are fine, as far as I can tell, the one has frontier DSL and the other is on comcast cable modem.  I was onsite with the POS 2009 customer while getting this error and had no problem getting to the net, nor with some https sites.

I tried calling World Pay and Tsys with the first customer and came up empty, both blamed it on frontier, but now I have another customer with a different ISP with the same error.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jeremy

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

We don't sell, recommend, use POS2k9, but on the last RMS Service Pack the TSYS settings were changed to:   ssl1.tsysacquiring.net/scripts/gateway.dll?transact

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

I am also having an issue with credit cards failing during auths. same error message about could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. their processor is TransFirst and they are runnning a single terminal with POS 2009 sp1. I have noticed that the internet connection works fine even when the credit cards do not process, and that if I exit and restart the application 3 or 4 times that the credit cards will function normally again for the next several transactions with out error...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

I just wanted to do a real quick update, I am no longer sure what the trigger for the error is, but I have noticed that it will work with my login and then fail when a standard user tries it right after, then if I log back in to the app, the auth goes through with out error. I t seems that a few weeks ago it was sporadic for the user, and over the last couple of days it has become pretty much every time she tries to suth a credit card. I will post an update if I figure anything else out.

    Thank You,

    Matt

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

Thanks Jeff, changing the Credit Gateway URL in the EDC setup to the following did it:

    ssl1.tsysacquiring.net/scripts/gateway.dll?transact

So one week in and it appears changing the URL fixed it.  Thanks!

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

    Jeff,

Do you know if Avast Anti-virus can cause an issue in RMS 2.0 with processing CC?  We have a client who is experiencing this issue running version 2.0.0160.  Their firewall is off and their credit gateway is set to ssl1.tsysacquiring.net/scripts/gateway.dll?transact.

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

Never recommend one turns off the firewall.

Don't know about Avast as we don't use it.  We recommend Microsoft's Security Essentials.

Make sure the computer's time/date/time zone is correct.

    Re: TSYS Connection Error

    Hi Jeff,

We removed Avast and replaced it with MS Security Essentials today.  We figured out that Avast was intermittently causing the following error message when they processed CC:

Connection Error: A network connection failed. Make sure you have a network (or Internet) connection and then try again.

We also turned back on Windows firewall and verified the time, date, and time zone is correct.

I will update this thread to give everyone an update.
