Hi,

New to Dynamics 365.

Need answers to a few questions:

1. How do I get to the development environment?

2. Do I need to pay to be able to customize out-of-box modules

3. Can I set up a development environment on my own PC or must be on the cloud?

I just need to play around with the development environment as a student, to enable me create some other modules for integration on Dynamics 365.

Here's an example:

Simply download Visual Studio Code, which is free.

Then download the AL extension for VSCode (free).

For a BC Saas sandbox the object range [50.000..99.999] is: free.

You can develop on your own machine, BC Sandbox is in Saas.

1. How do I get to the development environment?

You can download Dynamics NAV from available website. Then you need do the demo installation. Then you can get Development Env.

2. Do I need to pay to be able to customize out-of-box modules

Generally, to access objects you need to have developer license. if you are a new person, you can select one of available partners to do your customizations.

3. Can I set up a development environment on my own PC or must be on the cloud?
You can setup on your PC.

Hi,

Just to confirm, since you only mention "Dynamics 365", are you looking to learn Dynamics 365 Business Central? There are several different "Dynamics 365" products that are completely different software applications, so you will want to be clear which of those products you are interested in learning.

Assuming you are interested in Dynamics 365 Business Central... (BC)

To answer your questions:

1. You can create a BC SaaS sandbox, or setup a BC Docker Container, all free

2. You do not need to pay to customize standard modules with BC SaaS

3. You can setup a BC dev environment on your own PC using Docker Containers

I will definitely be looking forward to the videos.

My interest is in Dynamics as a whole for ERP purposes. Finance, Operations, HR, Procurement, CRM, Logistics, and the whole 9 yards.
