Dimension Set ID

Hopefully a simple question, but can you use the dimension set ID in config packages? ie, find the set id to be used, and specify that in the import, so that the dimensions are then populated.

Many thanks

I have the same question (0)

you need to provide more information as to why you need to import the dimension ID so someone might be able to offer insight

Yes you can use the Dimension set ID in the config Package and also export the related table data which have table relations.

I want to populate the dimension set id, which in turn will populate all the dimensions from that set id into the journal

No that's not the way Configuration Package Works, you need to export the dimension set entry table in separate sheet and then you can use the VLookup to match the dimension SET ID with your main tables Dimension Set ID

Hi, I have tested before, this value will be cleared when importing, no matter whether you select Validate or not. So, I don't think it could be done. You can test it again, maybe there is something wrong with my test.

For exmaple, dimension set ID: 4

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

It seems to error if you preset the dimension id in the config package, only accepts a blank value

Yes, thanks, you have confirmed my findings. Was hoping to use that to preset a whole lot of dimensions, rather than having to importing them all.

Yes, thanks, that is what I have done. But still intrigued as to why
