USB pole display needs com port

QUESTION: How do I configure a virtual com port?

DETAILS:

I am trying to attach a Logic Controls PD3900 to my RMS pos computer. The pole display has a USB connector. The following I have learned from reading this and other forums:

1. I should not use the Logic Controls OPOS driver; I should use the built-in RMS driver for this pole display.

2. The built-in RMS OPOS installer asks which "com port" the pole display is attached to (there is no USB choice).

3 I think I need to configure a "virtual com port," but I cannot find any information on how to do this.

Thank you Forum readers for any assistance you may be able to offer.

-Steve

Hi Steve. On the Logic Controls website (now called Bematech apparently), there is a USB virtual port driver for use with their line displays. They've moved stuff around, but it I believe it is the "All USB Line Display" file located under the Drivers section under Customer Displays at www.logiccontrols.com/downloads . Once you download and install it, you should be able to see the virtual port number in device manager.

Thanks very much Spencer. After downloading the "All USB Line Display" and reading the "readme" file, I see that the virtual com port driver is included. I will still attempt to use the RMS OPOS driver and not the one from Logic Controls. Sounds like I may not have a choice, though.

    Thanks for your speedy help.

No problem, and I don't anticipate any problems using the built in OPOS drivers. We use the LD9000 issue and got them set up without issue.

One note: the positioning will sometimes initially be kind of screwed up, in that the line will begin in the middle of the display or the top and bottom lines will be reversed. I spent a lot of time tweaking settings before I realized that, as with so many things in life, rebooting the machine cleared it up.

    Hi,

I have the same issue that the line begins in middle.  Rebooting did not help.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.
